5 EASY STEPS TO CLOSE A GIFT BAG WITHOUT TAPE
We would like to ensure that you are ready for a small DIY project before we begin. It’s not difficult, just a little more complicated than opening the bag, but it’s worth it. Make sure the bag is clean and not used for wrapping other gifts. Cleanliness is key when closing a bag! Open the bag from the top. You don’t need to rip the paper; open the bag at the top. Remove the contents of the bag. You’ll need to be quick about this since you have only one hand to use. Put the items back into their original bag. This doesn’t have to be neat. It’s not necessary to zip up the bag. The bag doesn’t have to be perfect. Wrap the bag back up. You don’t need to use tape. Your hands are free now to tie the bag.
Wrapping Paper Method
Wrapping paper is one of the most common methods for how to close a gift bag without tape. It’s easy, cheap, and forgiving. Groups will benefit from its reusability and ease of sharing. To wrap a gift bag with wrapping paper:
- Start by tearing off a piece of wrapping paper slightly larger than the bag.
- Roll the paper tightly around the bag, making sure there’s at least an inch of paper sticking out of the top.
- Keep rolling until the bag is completely covered.
- Roll the paper loosely enough that the bag can be easily opened. The paper will often have a crease in the middle where you can press the edges down to keep the paper from coming undone.
- Twist the end of the paper to secure it.
Wrapping Paper or Self-Adhesive Tape?
You can also use a piece of wrapping paper if you don’t have any self-adhesive tape. However, if you choose to use paper, we recommend you not use regular paper. Paper gift bags aren’t the best for how to close a gift bag without tape. They’re too easy to rip, making them easy for guests to open and too easy for you to rip open accidentally. You’ll want to use paper that’s specifically designed for gift bags. Self-adhesive paper is also better because it applies easily and doesn’t have to be perfectly smooth. It also doesn’t have to be perfectly straight. Paper will have some imperfections, which is better than no imperfections. Additionally, self-adhesive paper is thicker than regular paper, so it’s more durable.
Cardboard Tube Method
You can also close the gift bag with a cardboard tube. This is an easy method to try if you don’t have any self-adhesive tape. It’s also great for groups, as it can be shared and reused. There are two main ways to use a cardboard tube to close a gift bag. One way is to slide the tube over the top of the bag so that the ends are sticking out of the top. The other method is to wrap the tube around the sides of the bag. This is the method we recommend. It’s the easiest way to close the bag and keep it sealed. Using either method, slide the tube over the top of the bag and then twist the ends until the bag is closed.
Wire Hanger Method
Wire hangers are a prevalent way to close a gift bag. They’re inexpensive, easy to find, and forgiving. They’re also convenient because they can be reused. You can use as many wire hangers as you need to close the gift bag. There’s no exact way to close a gift bag with hangers, so it’s best to use as many as necessary to keep the bag closed. Just slide the hanger over the top of the bag, slide the hanger over the side of the bag, and twist it until the bag is closed.
Sturdy String Method
You can also close the gift bag with a piece of string. This is a great method for how to close a gift bag without tape because you can use whatever string you have on hand, and it’s easy to reuse. To close the bag with string, tie a knot at one end of the string. Slide the knot over the top of the bag and then twist it until the bag is closed.
- Wear gloves when closing a gift bag with paper, as your hands will be handling paper, and you may have fingerprints on the paper. –
- When using a wrapping paper method, make sure the paper is sticking out of the top of the bag. If the paper is not sticking out of the top of the bag, it will be easier for guests to open.
- When using a string method, make sure the string is not too long. If the string is excessively long, it will be too easy for guests to unwind and re-wrap it.
- When using the cardboard tube method, make sure the tube is not too thick. It won’t be easy to slide the tube out of the top of the bag if it is too thick.
- When using the wire hanger method, make sure the wire hanger is not too thick. If the hanger is too thick, it will be too hard for guests to slide it out of the bag.
- When using a string method, make sure the string is not too long. It will be too easy for guests to unwind and re-wrap the string if it is too lengthy.
- When using the string method, make sure the string is not too straight. If the string is too straight, it will be too easy for guests to unwind and re-wrap it.
